Signs You Need a Local SEO Audit

Most local search problems aren’t obvious from the outside. They sit in your profile settings, your listings and your website, quietly sending customers to someone else.

You’re Not in the Map Results

Search for what you do in your own town and the three businesses on Google Maps are all competitors.

Businesses with fewer years, fewer reviews or a worse service keep turning up first, and you can’t work out why.

Your Profile Isn’t Getting Views

Your Google Business Profile exists, but the calls, direction requests and website clicks have dried up.

Your Details Are Different Everywhere

Old addresses, phone numbers or business names are still floating around directories and listings online.

What I Check

What’s Covered in a Local SEO Audit

Your website and your Google Business Profile are two halves of the same job, so the audit looks at both, along with everything Google uses to decide who shows up locally.

Google Business Profile

  • Primary and secondary categories
  • Services, products and business description
  • Photos, posts and profile activity
  • Opening hours, service areas and attributes

Reviews and Reputation

  • Review count, rating and recency
  • How you compare with local competitors
  • Review replies and response times
  • An easy way for customers to leave reviews

Local Listings and Citations

  • Your name, address and phone number online
  • Duplicate and outdated listings
  • Key UK directories and industry sites
  • Consistency with your website

Your Website

  • Service and area pages
  • Page titles, headings and local keywords
  • Business details and structured data
  • Speed and mobile usability

Local Rankings

  • Where you appear for your key searches
  • How rankings change across your area
  • Map results versus normal results
  • The searches worth going after first

Competitors

  • Who is outranking you and why
  • Their categories, reviews and listings
  • Gaps you can realistically close
  • Where you already have an advantage

What You Get

An Audit You Can Actually Act On

Plenty of SEO audits are hundred-page exports from a tool. Mine are written by a person, for a person.

A Clear, Prioritised Report

Every issue explained in plain English, ranked by how much it’s likely to matter, so you know where to start.

A Walkthrough Call

We go through the findings together, and you can ask anything you like about what I’ve found.

Fix It Yourself or Let Me

Use the report to fix things yourself or with your developer, or I can quote to put everything right for you.

No Upsell Pressure

If your local presence is in good shape, I’ll say so. Not every business needs months of SEO work.

Pricing

A Fixed Price, Agreed Up Front

The cost of a local SEO audit depends on how many locations and services you have. Tell me a little about it and I’ll give you a fixed price before I start. No hourly meter running.

  • A fixed price, not an hourly rate
  • A prioritised list of fixes
  • A walkthrough call to go through it
  • A quote to fix it, only if you want one

It depends on how many locations and services you have. I’ll give you a fixed price once I know a little about your business, before any work starts.

Manager access to your Google Business Profile is the most useful thing, plus Search Console if you have it. I don’t change anything during the audit.

It’s usually a mix of things: the wrong categories, an incomplete profile, too few recent reviews, inconsistent listings or a website that doesn’t back up your profile. The audit shows which ones apply to you.

If you’d like me to, yes. I can quote to fix everything, or you can use the report yourself. For ongoing help, my local SEO services are £295 a month.

It helps, but it isn’t essential. If you don’t have one, or it needs a lot of work, see Google Business Profile optimisation.

A local SEO audit focuses on showing up in your area, including Google Maps. A technical SEO audit goes deep into how your website is crawled and indexed.

Yes. The audit looks at how you show up across the areas you cover, not just the town you’re based in, and where you have the best chance of winning more work.

Usually not. Most local SEO problems can be fixed without a rebuild. If a new website really is the better option, I’ll explain why, and a redesign keeps the rankings you already have.
