The Short Version

How I Got Into Web Design

I’ve been building websites for over fifteen years, eleven of them under this name. The first was my own, a small affiliate site put together mainly to find out whether I could, which I ended up selling years later.

After that I built one for my own consultancy, which taught me that designing for yourself is comfortably the worst job in the trade. It stopped being a fiddle the day a small business owner told me the site I’d made had brought in more work than they’d had before.

That’s still the part I like. Not the design, not the clever bits underneath, just somebody’s phone going more often than it used to.

Alongside the websites, I’ve spent most of that time working in SEO and publishing my own search research. It’s why every site I build is set up for Google from day one, and why I also offer local SEO for businesses that want to push further.

On Pricing

Why £695 and Not £3,000

I started this because I kept watching the same thing happen. Small businesses paying two or three thousand pounds for a website that’s slow, awkward to update and nowhere to be found on Google.

I’ve seen one that cost £35,000 and will never earn a penny of it back. Meanwhile a perfectly good local firm two streets away can’t justify spending anything at all, so they end up with nothing.

A small website for a plumber doesn’t need to cost five figures, or four. It needs to load quickly, say clearly what you do, and turn up when somebody goes looking. That’s £695 of work.

I’m not going to tell you I’m passionate about digital transformation. I like making things that work, I like them being quick, and I like people being able to afford them. That’s about the size of it.

What £695 Buys You

  • Five custom-designed pages
  • An easy-to-use WordPress CMS
  • A premium theme with a lifetime licence
  • Google Business Profile setup
  • Local SEO groundwork
  • Full support getting live

As for the name, I build online presences and my surname is Evans. I’d love to pretend there was a branding workshop involved.

The Way I Do It

How I Work

No sales process and no surprises. Just the way I’d want to be treated if I were hiring someone.

A Few Projects at a Time

Deliberately. Yours gets proper attention rather than being one of thirty on a whiteboard.

WhatsApp, Email or a Call

Whichever suits you. You get answers from the person who built the thing, not a ticket number.

The Price Is the Price

Quoted before we start, and it doesn’t creep once you’re committed.

Plain English

If I catch myself saying “responsive framework” I’ll stop and say it properly.

I’ll Tell You When to Spend Less

Plenty of what gets sold to small businesses isn’t worth having, and I’d rather say so.

I Stay Afterwards

Most cheap sites get handed over and forgotten. I’d rather keep it running than walk away.

Wirral Based, UK Wide

Based on the Wirral, Working Across the UK

I’m based in Wallasey. Most of the work happens at my desk, but there’s a fair chance you’ll find me in the Woodhouse with a laptop, or down at Wallasey Beach Club on a Friday afternoon pretending that also counts as work.

If you’re nearby, being local isn’t a gimmick. It means I know the difference between a business in Birkenhead and one in Heswall, I’ve heard of your competitors, and if you’d rather talk it through over a brew than do everything by email, that’s easily arranged.

But the Wirral is where I’m based, not the limit of where I work. I build websites for businesses in Liverpool, Chester, Cheshire and right across the UK, and it makes no difference at all to the job or the price.

If you’re in Birkenhead, brilliant. If you’re in Bristol, also brilliant.

Same work, same price, same person answering.

Straight Talking

What I’m Good At, and What I’m Not

Everyone’s website says they do everything. Here’s the honest version, including the bits I’d send you elsewhere for.

What I’m Good At

  • Simple sites that load fast. Clean, quick, and easy to find your way around. Most small business websites are far heavier than they need to be, and every extra second costs you people who never even saw the page.
  • Building so Google can actually read it. Structure, tags, speed, the lot. Most sites at this price are a mess underneath and it quietly costs them for years. Yours won’t be.
  • Writing that sounds like a person. Words that read like a human wrote them and still turn up in search. Those two things are supposed to fight each other. They don’t.
  • Working out what you don’t need. Half of what gets sold to small businesses is padding. I’d rather talk you out of something than take the money for it.
  • Getting it done quickly. Often live inside a week, because I’m not queuing your job behind thirty others.

What I’m Not

Logo design. I’ll work with what you’ve got and tidy it up so it looks sharp on screen. If you need one made from scratch, I’d rather send you to somebody who does it properly.

Custom software. Booking platforms, membership systems, anything built from nothing. Not my trade, and you’d get a worse result and a bigger bill.

Photography and video. I’ll make the most of what you have, and tell you straight when poor photos are holding the site back. But I’m not turning up with a camera.

Social media and paid ads. Running your accounts or managing an ad budget isn’t something I do. I’ll happily tell you whether it’s worth your money.

Pretending a website fixes everything. A good site helps. It won’t rescue a business that isn’t working, and anyone promising otherwise is selling you something.

If what you’re after is something I don’t do, ask me anyway. I’ll point you towards someone who does it properly, and you’ll have an answer the same day rather than a fortnight of chasing quotes.

Things People Ask Me

Something else on your mind? Ring or WhatsApp me. You’ll get a real answer from me, not a sales script.

WhatsApp Me Call 07776 953218

Yes. I design it, build it, write what needs writing and look after it afterwards. Nothing is passed to anyone else, which is why I only take on a few projects at a time.

If you’re on the Wirral or nearby, of course. Some people want to sit down and talk it through, others would rather never have a meeting in their lives. Both are fine by me.

Because I don’t have an office, a sales team, account managers or a marketing budget, and none of that ever made anybody’s website better. You’re paying for the work, not the overheads around it. Here’s what’s included.

No, I take on work all over the UK. Almost everything happens over WhatsApp, email or the phone, so where you are makes no real difference to how the job runs or what it costs. Being on the Wirral simply means I can meet you in person if you’re nearby and that’s something you’d value.

That’s normal and it’s fine. Most people know what they do and who they do it for, and that’s enough to start from. Working the rest out is part of the job.

Fair question. Look at the work, read exactly what’s included, and note that the price is on the website rather than hidden behind a quote form. Then ask me anything you like before committing to a penny.

No. As well as website design, I offer local SEO and website maintenance, all handled by me.
