A WordPress SEO Audit That Finds What’s Holding You Back

WordPress is brilliant for SEO when it’s set up properly, and quietly costly when it isn’t. I’ll go through your website, plugins and settings, then give you a clear, prioritised list of what to fix, in plain English.

Signs Your WordPress Website Needs an SEO Audit

Most WordPress SEO problems don’t announce themselves. They sit quietly in the settings, holding your website back for months or years.

Your website used to bring in visitors and enquiries, but the numbers have been sliding and you don’t know why.

Pages Aren’t Showing Up on Google

You’ve published pages or posts that never seem to appear in search, however long you wait.

It’s Slow and Getting Slower

Years of plugins, page builders and oversized images have left your website heavy, especially on phones.

Your SEO Plugin Says Everything’s Fine

All green lights in Yoast or Rank Math, yet you’re still nowhere to be found for the searches that matter.

What I Check

What’s Covered in a WordPress SEO Audit

Every audit goes through the parts of WordPress that most often cause problems, using Search Console data, crawling tools and a proper look under the bonnet.

Indexing and Crawling

  • Which pages Google has and hasn’t indexed
  • Robots.txt, sitemaps and noindex settings
  • Tag, category, author and attachment pages
  • Duplicate and thin content

SEO Plugin and Settings

  • Yoast, Rank Math or other SEO plugin setup
  • Page titles and meta descriptions
  • Permalinks, canonicals and redirects
  • Structured data and business details

Speed and Performance

  • Core Web Vitals on mobile and desktop
  • Plugin bloat and unused scripts
  • Image sizes, caching and hosting
  • Theme and page builder weight

Content and Structure

  • How your pages link together
  • Keyword targeting and pages competing with each other
  • Service and location page coverage
  • Broken links and orphaned pages

Security and Health

  • Out-of-date WordPress, themes and plugins
  • Signs of hacked or spam content
  • Mixed content and security certificate issues
  • Search Console errors and warnings

Local Signals

  • Google Business Profile and website consistency
  • Name, address and phone details
  • Local landing pages
  • Reviews and trust signals on the website

What You Get

An Audit You Can Actually Act On

Plenty of SEO audits are hundred-page exports from a tool. Mine are written by a person, for a person.

A Clear, Prioritised Report

Every issue explained in plain English, ranked by how much it’s likely to matter, so you know where to start.

A Walkthrough Call

We go through the findings together, and you can ask anything you like about what I’ve found.

Fix It Yourself or Let Me

Use the report to fix things yourself or with your developer, or I can quote to put everything right for you.

No Upsell Pressure

If your website is in good shape, I’ll say so. Not every WordPress website needs months of SEO work.

Pricing

A Fixed Price, Agreed Up Front

The cost of a WordPress SEO audit depends on the size of your website. Tell me a little about it and I’ll give you a fixed price before I start. No hourly meter running.

  • A fixed price, not an hourly rate
  • A prioritised list of fixes
  • A walkthrough call to go through it
  • A quote to fix it, only if you want one

It depends on the size of your website. I’ll give you a fixed price once I know a little about it, before any work starts.

Access to Google Search Console is the most useful thing. Access to your WordPress dashboard helps too, and I’ll only look, not change anything, unless you ask me to.

If you’d like me to, yes. I’ll quote to fix everything in the report, or you can use it with your own developer. If you’d rather hand over the upkeep entirely, see my hosting and maintenance.

SEO plugins check individual pages against a simple checklist. They don’t spot indexing problems, pages competing with each other, slow themes or the wider issues that usually hold a website back.

A WordPress SEO audit focuses on the settings, plugins and themes specific to WordPress. A technical SEO audit covers any platform in more depth.

It’s a good starting point. If the drop was sudden and severe, see Google penalty recovery as well.

No. I’ll audit any WordPress website, whoever built it.

Usually not. Most problems can be fixed on your current website. If a rebuild really is the better option, I’ll explain why, and a redesign keeps the rankings you already have.
