A Chester Postcode Should Not Cost You More

Parts of Cheshire are comfortably off, and quotes have a way of noticing. The same small business website costs noticeably more in Chester or Wilmslow than it does thirty minutes up the road, and it is not because the work is harder. My price is on this page. £695 to build and £35 a month to look after, whether you are a shop in the Rows, a practice in Tarporley or a trade in Runcorn. There is no local premium because there is no reason for one. Here is what it covers.

The Design

What You Get for £695

If a Chester agency has quoted you four thousand, the fair question is what they are doing that I am not. Mostly it is overheads. Here is the actual work.
Structure First
I work out what the site has to say and in what order before anything gets designed. Which pages exist, what sits at the top of each one, and what a stranger needs to know before they will pick up the phone. Most small business websites go wrong here rather than in the design. They look perfectly smart and they bury the one thing the visitor came for. It is also what decides how Google reads the site. Page titles, headings and the way it is put together are structural decisions, not something added at the end.
Then the Design
Type, colour and spacing chosen to suit your trade rather than whatever a theme arrived with. A shop in the Rows and a manufacturer in Winsford should not end up with the same website in different colours, and they will not. Designed for a phone first, since that is where most people will see it, then built upwards from there. Speed is a design decision too. Image sizes, how much sits on a page, how many things load before anything appears. Sorting that during the build is why it comes out fast rather than needing a plugin to rescue it later.
You see it on a private link before anybody else does, and I keep going until you are happy rather than stopping at a set number of rounds. Everything is built on WordPress, so once it is live you can log in and change your own text and photos without ringing anybody. Already have a site that needs replacing rather than building? That is a redesign and it costs the same.

No quote form, no discovery call, no postcode surcharge. If you already have a site and it just needs replacing, that is the same price.

LRM UPVC cover door and window repairs across Widnes and Runcorn, where most enquiries come from somebody stood outside their own front door on a phone. The site loads fast and puts the number in front of them. Northwest Comms are an ex-BT telephone and broadband engineer covering Cheshire, Liverpool and Manchester. Same principle, more urgent: people ring them when the internet has stopped working. Dick’s Bean Bar is a coffee shop and roaster in Warrington selling beans online as well as over the counter.

Cheshire Web Design Questions

No, and I would rather say so. I work from Wallasey on the Wirral, which is half an hour from Chester and rather less from Ellesmere Port or Runcorn. Near enough to meet you, far enough that I am not going to claim a Chester address I do not have.
No office, no sales team, no account managers and no marketing budget. For a small business website there is no part of an agency you actually need, and none of that overhead ever made anybody’s site better.
Yes, anywhere in the county. Some people want to sit down and talk it through, others would rather never have a meeting again. Both are fine and neither costs extra.
It will be built so it can. Clean structure, fast loading, properly tagged, and set up so Google understands where you trade. Nobody can promise a position, because that depends on your competition and on work done over time rather than the build alone.
Send me what they proposed. If it genuinely needs what they have quoted for, I will tell you and you should probably use them. If it is a small brochure site dressed up as a project, I will tell you that too.
