Do You Actually Need a Liverpool Web Design Agency?

Liverpool has some genuinely good agencies, and if you are launching a national brand or need a team of eight on it, go and talk to one. I would tell you that rather than take the work. But most small businesses need a handful of pages that load quickly, say clearly what they do, and turn up on Google. That is one person for a couple of weeks. Paying agency rates for it means paying for an office, a sales team and an account manager, none of which ever made anybody’s website better. Here is what you get instead.

The Design

What Website Design Actually Involves

At this price the fair question is whether you are getting a template with your logo dropped on the top. You are not, and it is worth explaining what you are getting instead.
Structure First
I work out what the site has to say and in what order before anything gets designed. Which pages exist, what sits at the top of each one, and what a stranger needs to know before they will pick up the phone. Most small business websites go wrong here rather than in the design. They look perfectly smart and they bury the one thing the visitor came for. It is also what decides how Google reads the site. Page titles, headings and the way it is put together are structural decisions, not something added at the end.
Then the Design
Type, colour and spacing chosen to suit your trade rather than whatever a theme arrived with. A joiner in Walton and a therapist in Woolton should not end up with the same website in different colours, and they will not. Designed for a phone first, since that is where most people will see it, then built upwards from there. Speed is a design decision too. Image sizes, how much sits on a page, how many things load before anything appears. Sorting that during the build is why it comes out fast rather than needing a plugin to rescue it later.
You see it on a private link before anybody else does, and I keep going until you are happy rather than stopping at a set number of rounds. Already have a site that needs replacing rather than building? That is a redesign and it costs the same.

£695 To Build, £35 a Month To Look After

A website designed and built by me, five pages as standard and more if you need them, often live in under a week. Anything beyond that I quote as a fixed price before we start. Then hosting, business email, weekly updates and backups twice a day for £35 a month. The prices are on the page rather than behind a quote form, so you know where you stand before you send an email. Same rate whether you are in the city centre, out in Woolton, or anywhere else entirely.

Wirral Based, Ten Minutes Through the Tunnel

I will be straight with you: I am not in Liverpool. I work from Wallasey, which is close enough to meet you for a coffee and far enough that I am not going to pretend I have a studio in the Baltic Triangle. In practice it makes very little difference. Most of a website gets built over email and WhatsApp wherever the designer is sitting, and I have built sites for businesses in Warrington, Widnes, Runcorn, Lancashire and as far as Surrey. What being nearby does mean is that if you would rather sit down and talk it through in person, that is genuinely easy to arrange rather than something I say and then avoid. If you are a Liverpool business who would rather deal with somebody local than a form on a national website, that is exactly what this is.

Independents and small trades, mostly. The sort of business where the owner answers the phone.
Trades. Plumbers, electricians, joiners, locksmiths. People who get found on a phone by somebody with a problem right now. Shops and cafes. Independents who need somewhere proper to send people from Instagram, and sometimes a small shop attached. Salons and therapists. Where the site has to feel calm and make booking or getting in touch obvious.
Consultants and one-person firms. Where the website is the whole shop window and it needs to look like you know what you are doing. Small manufacturers and suppliers. Technical products explained plainly for trade buyers who know what they are looking for. Anyone with a site nobody looks after. Built years ago, slow now, and whoever made it has stopped replying.

No, and I would rather say so than dress it up. I work from Wallasey on the Wirral, which is a tunnel away. Near enough to meet in person if you want to, and it makes no difference at all to the work or the price.
Yes, if that is how you would rather do it. Some people want to sit down with a brew and talk it through, others would happily never have a meeting again. Both are fine, and neither costs extra.
No office, no sales team, no account managers, no marketing budget. You are paying for the work rather than the overheads around it. For a small business website there is no part of an agency you actually need.
It will be built so it can. Clean structure, fast loading, properly tagged, and set up with your location so Google understands where you trade. What nobody can promise is a position, because that depends on your competition and on work done over time rather than on the build alone.
