Haylo Theatre: Rebuilding a Website That Couldn’t Be Found, Even by Name

Haylo Theatre creates productions, workshops and staff training on dementia, end of life care, grief and mental health for NHS trusts, hospices, universities and charities. Their old website was tired, and it wasn’t even showing up for their own name. I took it over in mid 2026 and rebuilt it from the ground up.

The Starting Point

Important Work, Invisible Online

Haylo Theatre’s work is used by organisations including NHS England, Dementia UK, Hospice UK and the University of Northampton. But anyone searching for them by name struggled to find their website.

The old website looked tired, its structure made productions and workshops hard to find, and there was no Google Search Console set up to see what was going wrong. Behind the scenes there were technical problems too, including links pointing at an old staging website and a broken form.

The Brief

  • Get Haylo Theatre found for its own name, then for its work
  • Make every production and workshop easy to find
  • Reflect the warmth and care in their work
  • Fix the technical problems holding the website back
  • Set up proper tracking from day one

What I Built

A Complete Rebuild, Page by Page

Every page was rebuilt with two audiences in mind: the organisations commissioning Haylo’s work, and Google.

A Clear New Structure

Productions and workshops each have a main page with a page for every individual show and workshop underneath, so visitors and Google can find everything.

A Page for Every Production

Each play has its own page explaining what it covers, who it’s for and where it works best, with a clear way to get in touch.

Workshops and Staff Training

Staff training, storytelling, reminiscence and life story, and intergenerational workshops, each explained properly.

Real Testimonials

Genuine feedback from the organisations Haylo works with, shown word for word, with every claim on the website checked against trusted sources.

Technical Clean-Up

Old staging links removed, broken features dealt with and redirects planned from the old website’s pages, so nothing is lost in the move.

Google Search Console connected for the first time, so progress can be measured properly from the new website’s launch.

The Approach

Designing for Sensitive Subjects

Haylo Theatre’s work deals with dementia, grief and end of life care. The website needed to feel warm and human, while still giving NHS trusts and universities the confidence to book.

  • A warm, theatrical look inspired by the stage
  • Wording that’s caring without being clinical
  • Only facts that can be checked, no inflated claims
  • Clear routes to get in touch for commissioners and buyers

When your work handles difficult subjects, your website has to earn trust quietly, with warmth and with evidence.

What’s Next

The Rebuild Is Just the Start

The new website gives Haylo Theatre the foundations it never had: a clear structure, pages for everything they do and proper tracking in Search Console.

From here I’m working with them on ongoing SEO, hosting and maintenance. The first goal is simple: make sure people searching for Haylo Theatre by name find them straight away. Then the focus moves to the productions and workshops people search for. I’ll update this case study as the results come in.

What Haylo Theatre Gets

  • A full website redesign, every page rebuilt
  • A clear structure for productions and workshops
  • Technical problems fixed
  • Google Search Console set up
  • Ongoing SEO, hosting and maintenance
